Citations do not automatically become visits

Over a month, dozens of citations on one property produced a single-figure count of recorded visits from AI engines. The engines were reading it, using it, and answering the question so completely that few readers had a reason to click through.

Attribution undercounts here by nature. Answers read without a click leave no trace at all, and some AI browsers strip the referrer, so any number of this kind is a floor rather than a total. Even allowing for that, the direction is the point.

For a business paid on clicks this is the strategic question of the era, and it is invisible to anyone measuring mentions alone. The answer is not to be cited less. It is to give the reader something the answer itself cannot hold.
