Refer Labs: Google clicks from 12 a month to 196
Refer Labs is our own site, not a client. It compares Australian providers and earns commission when a reader buys, so its result is clicks and commission rather than sales. Google sent it 12 clicks in January 2026 and 196 in August 2026, as its Search Console reports them.
Clicks from Google search, per month
196 in August 2026, up from 12 in January 2026. Impressions rose from 107 to 23,989 a month over the same months.

What Refer Labs is
An Australian comparison site covering weight-loss telehealth, hair loss, solar and home batteries, and business software. Readers compare providers, click through to the one they choose, and Refer Labs is paid a commission when they buy.
We own and run it, and we try our Google and AI work on it with our own money before a client pays for it. Visit Refer Labs

What we did
The work below is what our records date. Where we can’t put a month on something, we say it’s ongoing rather than guess.
By early August 2026
Prices checked at the source
The weight-loss telehealth comparison published each provider's price where the provider states one, checked on the provider's own page. Where a price is only given after a consultation, the page says so.
By early August 2026
A page for each head-to-head question
People search for one provider against another, so the hair loss comparison gained a Pilot versus Mosh section with prices checked in July 2026.
By early August 2026
Answers to the questions people ask
Question-shaped headings with short answers beneath, marked up as FAQs, including whether online clinics are legitimate, framed the way Ahpra and the TGA put it.
8 August 2026
Clear authorship on key pages
Article markup naming Refer Labs as author and publisher on four pages AI assistants were already quoting.
From 14 August 2026
A daily check on what the answers say
Every day we ask ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity the questions that pay the site, and record which pages they quote.
Ongoing
Google ranking first
For each question that pays, we check where the page ranks on Google. A page Google doesn't rank gets its ranking fixed before anyone rewrites it.
Ongoing
No shortcuts in the markup
A popular SEO tool flagged 25 structured-data errors. Fixing 21 of them would have meant adding star ratings nobody gave, so we left them.
What it shows
Work on a site’s own pages can grow its traffic from Google. Clicks went from 12 a month in January 2026 to 196in August 2026 on a site where we did that work, per Refer Labs’ Search Console, read 15 September 2026.
What it doesn’t show
- Sales. Refer Labs earns commission when a reader clicks through and buys; the clicks above are Google’s, not a revenue figure.
- That every site will grow the same way. This is one site, in its own categories.
- That our work alone moved it. Rankings shift for many reasons we don't control, including Google's own updates and what competitors publish.
- That AI assistants drive much yet. In August 2026 they sent Refer Labs about 2 visits, against Google's 196 clicks (Google Analytics, August 2026, a minimum because some AI apps hide where a visit came from). That's why we still lead with Google.
What a publisher sees that a brand does not
Refer Labs is paid through other businesses’ affiliate programs. Running it shows us what a partner looks for, and where a brand’s codes end up. Source: Refer Labs’ Search Console, 1 to 31 August 2026, read 18 September 2026.
People search for codes
In August 2026, 9 of the 48 clicks Search Console tied to a named search were for a brand's discount code, 7 of them "moshy discount code".
The publisher answers, not the brand
Those searches landed on our comparison page. A brand with its own current offers page gives Google, and shoppers, another answer.
Partners read the terms first
We joined programs whose commission, cookie length and code rules we could read before applying, and passed on ones we could not.
No markup we cannot stand behind
A tool flagged 25 structured-data errors; fixing 21 meant inventing ratings, so they stayed flagged.
